During her fellowship, Dr. Valoroso will explore the cultural significance of two pivotal moments in Italian-American history: the decision to name the bridge connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island after the Tuscan navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano and the 1950s restoration of the GARIBALDI-MEUCCI MUSEUM, both of which saw the active involvement of Uguccione Ranieri di Sorbello.
