Verrazzano Bridge
The Verrazzano bridge connects Brooklyn to Staten Island
Open on November 2nd 1964, it was the largest suspension bridge of its time. It was precisely Uguccione Ranieri di Sorbello who campaigned to have the bridge named after the Florentine explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, the first European to sail into New York Harbor in 1524.
